Ephesians 4 (Part 4) | Aaron Estes

Summary of Ephesians 4:25–32:

This passage urges believers to live a transformed life by putting away their old, sinful nature and embracing godly behavior. Paul emphasizes the importance of honesty, righteous anger, hard work, and wholesome speech. Christians are called to build each other up, not tear each other down. The passage ends with a strong appeal to kindness, compassion, and forgiveness, reflecting the character of Christ.

Highlights of the Preaching:

  • Put away falsehood: Speak the truth in love because we belong to one another as members of Christ’s body.

  • Control anger: Be angry but do not sin—deal with anger quickly to avoid giving the devil a foothold.

  • Work with purpose: Stop stealing and instead work honestly so you can bless others in need.

  • Watch your words: Use words that build, encourage, and give grace—not those that corrupt or hurt.

  • Be kind and forgiving: Imitate God's mercy by showing compassion and forgiving others as God forgave you.

Applications:

  • Evaluate your daily speech: Are your words life-giving or damaging?

  • Practice quick reconciliation in relationships—don’t let anger fester.

  • Be intentional about generosity, using your work to bless others.

  • When tempted to retaliate or gossip, remember how Christ forgave you.

  • Create a home and workplace culture of kindness and truth.
