Matthew 28 | Eric Roberts

Summary:

Matthew 28 is the final chapter of the Gospel according to Matthew. It begins with the resurrection of Jesus Christ, where Mary Magdalene and the other Mary discover the empty tomb. An angel announces that Jesus has risen, and they are instructed to tell the disciples. Jesus later appears to them and then to His disciples in Galilee. The chapter ends with the Great Commission, where Jesus commands His followers to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them and teaching them to obey all He has commanded.

Highlights of the Preaching:

  • Jesus has risen: The resurrection is the core of Christian faith, affirming Jesus’ victory over death.

  • Do not be afraid: Both the angel and Jesus Himself encourage faith over fear.

  • Go and tell: The women are the first to be entrusted with the message of the resurrection.

  • The Great Commission: Jesus gives authority to His followers to spread the Gospel and make disciples worldwide.

  • God’s presence: Jesus promises, “I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Applications:
