Galatians 1 (Cont) | Allen Freet

Updated: Sep 30, 2024

In Galatians 1:3-24, Paul begins by offering grace and peace from God the Father and Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for our sins to deliver us from this evil world. Paul expresses astonishment that the Galatians are quickly turning to a different gospel, warning that any deviation from the true gospel is a perversion. He emphasizes that his apostleship and the gospel he preaches come directly from Jesus Christ, not from human teaching. Paul recounts his past persecution of the church and his dramatic transformation after encountering Christ. He highlights his independence from other apostles, explaining that his message was revealed to him by God.

Highlights:

1. Paul emphasizes that the true gospel is a message of grace and comes directly from Jesus Christ, cautioning against accepting any distorted version.

2. Paul shares his past as a persecutor of the church to demonstrate the power of God’s grace in transforming lives.

3. Paul's independence from human teachings underscores that his apostleship and message come from divine revelation, not from human authority.

Life Applications:

1. Stand firm in the truth of the gospel and be wary of teachings that distort or add to God’s word.

2. God can redeem and use even the most unlikely people for His purposes; no one is beyond the transforming power of His grace.

3. Seek to live a life directed by God’s revelation rather than relying solely on human approval or guidance.
