Ephesians 1 (Part 1) | Eric Roberts

Summary

Ephesians 4 emphasizes unity in the body of Christ and living a life that reflects our calling as believers. Paul calls for humility, gentleness, patience, and love to maintain unity in the Spirit. The chapter outlines the diversity of spiritual gifts given to believers for building up the church, encouraging maturity and stability in faith. Paul also contrasts the old sinful way of life with the new life in Christ, urging believers to put off corrupt behavior, speak truth, and exhibit kindness and forgiveness as Christ forgave us.

Highlights:

  • Chosen and Adopted: God selected us before creation to be holy and blameless, adopting us into His family through Jesus.

  • Redemption through Christ: Our sins are forgiven by the grace of God through the blood of Jesus.

  • Sealed by the Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit guarantees our inheritance and serves as a mark of our belonging to God.

  • Power and Authority of Christ: Christ is seated at God’s right hand, above all rule and authority, and is the head of the Church.

Applications:

  • Walk in your identity: Remember that you are chosen and adopted by God. This should shape your confidence, relationships, and purpose.

  • Live in gratitude: Every spiritual blessing is already given in Christ. Cultivate a thankful heart rather than striving for approval.

  • Trust God’s plan: Even when things feel uncertain, know that God’s plan was in place before the world began—and it includes you.

  • Stay connected to Christ: As the head of the Church, Christ directs and empowers us. Stay in close communion with Him through prayer and the Word.

  • Be led by the Spirit: You are sealed with the Holy Spirit—listen, follow, and allow Him to guide your steps daily.
