Summary of 1 Peter 2:1-12
Peter urges believers to rid themselves of sin and to hunger for the pure Word of God like newborns. He describes Christians as "living stones" being built into a spiritual house, with Christ as the precious cornerstone. Though Jesus was rejected by men, He is chosen by God. Believers are now a chosen people, a royal priesthood, called to proclaim God's greatness. As foreigners in this world, Christians are to live righteously so their good deeds may glorify God, even if others speak against them.
Highlights
Spiritual Hunger: Desire the Word like babies crave milk—it's vital for growth.
Christ the Cornerstone: Jesus is foundational; belief in Him leads to honor, rejection leads to stumbling.
Our Identity: We are God’s chosen, royal, and holy people—once not a people, now His people.
Purposeful Living: We are called out of darkness to declare His marvelous light.
Holy Conduct: As pilgrims in this world, we are to abstain from fleshly desires and live honorably.
